Rare sight on British roads these days. I saw it driving around too so mechanically it’s okay, but was definitely wearing some “patina.” I quite liked it.

nice!
sadly not sold here in Australia, yet they were sold in NZ

They probably didn’t put enough fuel in the cargo ship to make it all the way and said “eh, this is fine, the Kiwis will buy anything.”

wonder if that one has the same window feature a friend of mines had
where on bumpy roads the windows would shake themselves open

Quite surprised they were sold anywhere outside of Europe.

I wouldnt be surprised if this did indeed have that same feature.

I bought mine 3 days ago
I’d like to drive a post-facelift model one day just to see how different it is compared to the raw, communist-era one.

A friend of mine had one too, although it could’ve been a Felicia as well. It was from the mid 90s. The only thing I really remember about it is that I had to push it a few times so he could attempt to start it. In Assen, of all places.

lol... yeah back then skoda really was a brand to make fun of (now they’re really rather nice)
also back then i lived about 30 km away in the boonies (zorgvlied to be precise)

These already had VW engines though, from their reliable pre-Piech era. The Skodas from the 90s were just very basic and cheap.

Very cool. I’ve never seen a pre-facelift here, although they may not have been sold in the UK.

nice!
we need an oppo review, for *reasons*

They did sell them (there’s even an old Top Gear review), but being in the same price bracket as the Lada Samara didn’t fetch that many sales. The facelifted models were better sellers I imagine.

School holiday starts soon, so I might be able to cobble something together. Will definitely keep this in mind. Old carbureted reasons are the best reasons.

Are those Slovakian plates?

Yes, oldest style possible. You keep them only if you live in the same district as the old owner. Good way of keeping track of local cars.

When I was young I was fascinated by all the cars we didn’t get here in the US, and I remember seeing these in Car and Driver (I think). I thought it was a good-looking little car even if it does look a bit too much like an Omni/Horizon.

They’re quirky and one of the last pre-VW Skodas. Pretty basic but robust OHV engines too. I have a soft spot for basic honest little cars.

Looks like you did good!
